Q: What made you want to start a skincare line?
Vanessa: “I never really found my go-to brand, I would kind of use whatever and got by. My skin was fine for so long, and I first got acne at about 21. When I had acne, I wanted to be the girl who just rolls up with no makeup and feels good about herself, but I wasn't.
After that, I became obsessed with the ritual of taking care of my skin in the morning and at night. It became my ‘me time.’
Q: What’s your relationship between mental health and skincare?
Working in the entertainment industry, there’s this huge pressure to look perfect every single day. I remember I saw a few fine lines appear in my late 20s, and was like “Oh my god! Really?!” It feels like I’ve been grinding for so many years, and I've also been grinding trying to find a skincare regimen that actually works for me. I think a lot of people feel that way.
I'm 32 now, and I'm finally in a place where I can go out not wearing makeup and still feel my most confident. It's taken me a while, but I finally have a relationship with my skin that I'm really proud of. I feel great about my skin. It's not about covering it up, I want my skin to be seen.”
