Our Founders

Vanessa Hudgens and Madison Beer created KNOW in partnership with their Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Karen Kagha, to build a smarter way for people to know their skin.

Vanessa and Madison grew up in the public eye, facing unrealistic beauty standards. Both founders have different skincare journeys, but they share one common goal: skincare shouldn't be trial and error. It should be based on what’s right for you (and not what works for someone else).

Madison's Journey

In her late teens, Madison dealt with consistent acne that made her self-conscious and had a big impact on her mental health.

Skincare was a trial and error journey. At first, her routine was nonexistent, and then when she started following too many online recommendations, it got worse.

Over the years, Madison learned to rewrite her internal monologue and be kinder to herself. Today, her goal is to help everyone get to know their skin through an easy and effective process.

Vanessa's Journey

Vanessa grew up in front of the camera, which was challenging when started struggling with breakouts in her early 20s and knew they would feature on screen.

Since then, Vanessa has spent years refining her skincare ritual and embraces it as a way to mentally ground herself. She’s a self-professed product connoisseur: you name it, she’s applied it to her skin.

As Vanessa approached her 30s, the focus was on discovering a regimen that was as efficacious as it was grounding. After trialing hundreds of products and ingredients, she wanted to create an easier way.

“Our skin has the power to affect how we interact with the world. I wanted to create a more effective process for everyone who feels unsure about themselves or left out of the conversation.”
